Overview

Nicky Allpress directs a revival of Neil LaBute's critically acclaimed play The Shape of Things at the Park Theatre this May.

Set on a small college campus in the American midwest, The Shape of Things is a startling examination of relationships that questions how far we are prepared to go for love and art and what price we are willing to pay.

Shy and scruffy English literature student Adam begins an intense relationship with attractive art graduate Evelyn who gradually encourages him to undergo a complete makeover that includes everything from his hair and clothing to a nose job. As Adam discovers a new found confidence, his best friend Phillip's engagement to Jenny begins to crumble as a result of Evelyn's manipulativeness, unleashing a drama simmering just underneath the surface tha boils over in a gut-punch ending.

At what point does creation become manipulation, and at what point does creation destroy?

There are two wheelchair spaces in Park200 and one wheelchair space in Park90.

There are headsets available for sound amplification in both Park200 and Park90. Please ask a member of front of house staff if you require a headset.
