Overview

Bill Kenwright's production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman's hit musical, Whistle Down the Wind, returns to the West End for a strictly limited season. Based on the classic 1961 film starring Hayley Mills, it is an extraordinary and uplifting tale about the transforming power of love.

Set in the 1950s and relocated to America's deep South, it recounts the tale of a 15 year old girl who discovers a mysterious man hiding in a barn. When she asks his identity, the first words he utters are 'Jesus Christ' and it's as if all her prayers have been answered.

As the girl and the town's other children vow to protect the stranger from the world that waits outside, the local residents are determined to catch a fugitive recently escaped from jail.....

Whistle Down The Wind's multi-award-winning songs and a powerful all new staging combine epic storytelling with intimate emotion as childhood innocence and simple faith collides with the cynicism of the adult world.

Wheelchair access is through the side exit door on Shaftesbury Avenue. There is one wheelchair space in the Stalls and transfer seating is also available.
