Rent Tickets
Overview
Remixed for a 21st-century generation, a highly-anticipated new production of Jonathan Larson’s Rent opens at the Duke of York’s Theatre starring Denise Van Outen as Maureen and Siobhan Donaghy as Mimi.
Based on Puccini’s La Boheme, the hit musical broke convention when it first opened on Broadway, transposing the plot to early 1990s New York where a community of East End squatters battle to fulfil their aspirations against the reality of rent demands and AIDS.
Over a decade later, William Baker and Steve Anderson have reworked and re-orchestrated the iconic musical giving it a contemporary edge. The young and talented cast, handpicked for their street-edge and pop sensibility, also includes Luke Evans, Oliver Thornton, Leon Lopez, Jay Webb, Francesca Jackson and Craig Stein.
