Following a sell-out season at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre last August, Jamie Lloyd's transformative revival of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary 1978 musical Evita transfers to the Barbican for eight weeks only this June.
From a life of poverty to spiritual leader of the nation, Evita is the story of an ordinary woman’s meteoric rise to power at a time of extraordinary political unrest. Wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Perón, enigmatic Eva used her beauty, magnetism and charisma to catapult herself from humble beginnings in the slums of Argentina to extraordinary wealth and power in the presidential mansion as First Lady. She won international acclaim and adoration from her own people as a champion of the poor, whilst glamour, ambition, power and greed made her the world's first major political celebrity.
Evita tells Eva’s passionate and tragic story through Andrew Lloyd Webber's dazzling score and Tim Rice's famous lyrics, including Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Another Suitcase in Another Hall, Oh What A Circus and High Flying Adored, together with You Must Love Me, the Oscar-winning song from the 1996 film starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas.

Access
The Main entrance at Silk Street is ramped and lifts give access to all levels. All venues have seating for wheelchair users.
A radio network system is provided in the theatre and pit for visitors with hearing impairments. Headsets can be collected from Theatre Stalls Right prior to the performance.
Assistance dogs can be taken into the theatre or left with a member of staff.
