Carousel Tickets
Overview
Concluding the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's summer season, director Timothy Sheader reunites with choreographer Drew McOnie for a new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s much-loved musical, Carousel.
Adapted by Benjamin F. Glazer from Ferenc Molnár's 1909 play Liliom, Carousel premiered on Broadway in 1945 and was subsequently made into a hit Hollywood film starring Shirley Jones and Gordon McRae in 1956. One of the truly great musicals, it broke the mould with its gritty and courageous look at relationships.
Set in a small New England town, Carousel charts the tragic tale of carousel barker Billy Bigelow and his doomed romance with mill worker Julie Jordan. Fifteen years after becoming tangled up in an armed robbery and committing suicide, Billy is given the opportunity to return to earth and make amends. His lonely and bitter teenaged daughter Louise is ultimately the key to his redemption.
This timeless and powerful musical features some of the most moving and celebrated songs of all time including; If I Loved You, June Is Bustin' Out All Over and You'll Never Walk Alone.
