Beginning Tickets
Overview
Following a sell-out premiere at the National Theatre last year, Polly Findlay’s acclaimed production of David Eldridge’s bittersweet play Beginning transfers to the West End with Justine Mitchell and Sam Troughton reprising their roles as Laura and Danny.
It’s the early hours of the morning and Essex boy Danny is the last straggler at Laura’s boozy house-warming party in her new north London flat. As they clear up the mess, munch on fish finger sandwiches and dance awkardly to Bros, they nearly share a kiss. The two lonely strangers spend close to two hours fighting insecurities and embarrassment and trying to find the courage to rekindle that first fragile spark.
This beautifully written two-hander is an intimate look at relationships and a touching meditation on the loneliness of the singleton in the era of the dating app.
Please note that the production contains strong language and adult themes.
